Maintain your sanity by having Kat
take care of your online changes or monthly updates. The beauty of
this real time era is it's more cost effective to alter your online brochure than
to send your hardcopy marketing materials back to the printer.
I'll exercise careful planning when
we first begin designing your website...that way, we'll already know
in advance if any of your pages will require scheduled maintenance.
If you have a site that needs a regular 'calendar of events' for
example or a seasonal photo page or even if you have links to
outside sources that may grow or change, I can do one
of two things.
I
can maintain your site in the same way I developed it. You
tell me what you want, send me what I need and I'll get it done for
you...
Or:
I
can create one or more of your pages in such a way that you can
work the template yourself in an html editor. We'll determine
what your skills are before we go this route.
If you want to just sit back a
while and watch the updates before you try your hand at it, that's
fine too...I would rather you take care not to upset the original
model if you don't feel competent to update it. Sometimes a
small do-it-yourself fix can make for a big repair bill. It also
makes it hard for me to showcase my work when it's simply not my
work anymore.

If you're interested in updating your own pages, you'll need to upload your own files through a file transfer
program. You can download one for free
here: When you transfer files,
what you are really doing is uploading from your local access
(personal computer) to a remote access (the internet)
Don't forget to pull in your original files as a back up in case
things don't look quite like you imagined they would. (And they
never do at first!) |

If you do decide to have me do your updating...I try very hard to
keep my maintenance costs at a minimum, and I always send you a copy
of my 'trax-time', which is my computer clock-in/clock-out program. This
way you can see exactly what I've done and how long it's
taken me. This is helpful for future updates as you can begin to
gauge what your maintenance bills will be. If you need a major
expansion change or addition, it's probably best to get a new quote
instead of going hourly.

Maybe you should take a look at
some of my work so that you can have a better idea of what you can
pretty much expect in a website by Kat.
